Greta’s drawer indeed

May I introduce you to my new interior best friends?

Meet Greta’s new drawer and its companion, Mr. Old School Radio. They were in between the very first items to enter my new home in Oldenburg, northern Germany, a couple of weeks ago. They were so cold and lonely on that breezy Sunday afternoon in early November at the flea market, so I have rescued them. I almost feel like a hero.

Don’t they both just look heavenly?

They might not be sleeping in the same room – Miss Drawer might welcome our guest in the front door hallway, while Mr. Radio will most likely swing it in the living room. But they don’t mind, as long as they can stay together under the same roof. :-)

Can’t wait to get them acquainted with Mrs. Sleek Kitchen and Mr. Minimal Couch – after all opposites do attract.

Posso presentarvi i miei due nuovi migliori amici?

Vi presento la nuova cassettiera di Greta (aka Miss Drawer) e il suo compagno Mr. Old School Radio. Sono stati fra i primi ad entrare nel mio nuovo appartamento ad Oldenburg, a nord della Germania, qualche settimana fa. Avevano cosi´ tanto freddo e si sentivano tanto soli in quella fredda Domenica di Novembre alla fiera delle pulci, ho dovuto salvarli e portarli a casa. Mi sento quasi un’eroina.

Non li adorate anche voi?

Probabilmente non dormiranno nella stessa stanza – Miss Drawer potrebbe dare il benvenuto ai nostri ospiti in corridoio mentre Mr. Radio ci donera´ del buon sano jazz in salotto. Ma a loro non importa, basta che stanno sotto lo stesso tetto :-)

Non vedo l’ora di farli conoscere alla Sig.ra Cucina Moderna e al Sig. Divano Minimal – alla fine gli opposti si attraggono.

Hello, autumn…

…I’ve been expecting you. Welcome back beautiful leaves falling from the trees, chestnuts, chai tea latte while cosying up under a soft, fluffy blanket. As for fashion – time to layer up, ladies.

Me? I like to mix (& not necessarily match) a little. But one thing is sure: I am gonna stick around this Mango coat pretty much every day this season – it’s got a great cut, neither too tight or too baggy, with just the right amount of menswear look, super soft fabric and in two shades of grey (Hellooo, Christian... :-) ). A couple of days ago I have combined it with a breton 3/4 sleeves top, a longer silk camisole, vintage collar necklace, skinny jeans & lace booties. I actually felt a little French – Bonjour!

What are your favourite clothes/shoes/accessories this autumn?

Ciao, autunno..ti stavo giusto aspettando. Bentornate foglie dai mille colori, che cadono dagli alberi, caldarroste, chai tea latte sotto una copertina morbidosa. Per quanto riguarda la moda – è ora di darsi agli strati, ragazze!

Io? A me piace fare un mix (e non necessariamente un match). Una cosa è certa: mi terrò ben stretto questo cappottino di Mango quasi tutti i giorni di questa stagione – ha un taglio spettacolare, né troppo aderente né troppo largoso, con il giusto look maschile; materiale super soft e in due sfumature di grigio (Ciaooo Christian… :-) ). Qualche giorno fa l’ho abbinato ad una maglia con maniche a ¾ in stile bretone, una canottiera lunga di seta, collana rigida vintage, jeans skinny e stivaletti con lacci. Mi sono sentita un po’ francese a dire il vero – Bonjour!

A very vintage wedding: my outfits

While impatiently waiting to receive the official photos, here is a little preview of the outfits I wore on my dear friends’ Vintage Circus themed wedding, in Northern Germany, last week-end. It was the best wedding I have ever been to and we all had such a blast! You’ll have to wait a couple more days to see the pics of the event but I am telling you it is so worth it…

Being one of the bridesmaids I had to look rather impeccable and I believe the outcome wasn’t  that bad at all. The bride was so cool to let me pick the entire outfit (including the choice of colors to mix & match), the only rules were: no evening gowns, vintage & color, color, color! I picked yellow – one of the most covetable colors this season – with red accessories. The dress is so comfortable with an amazing fit – I could hit that bbq buffet totally confident, knowing that my dress wouldn’t pop :D
The shoes were a superb investment – thanks to the high platform and chunky heel I could run around doing all my bridesmaid duties the whole day – and I can’t wait to wear them again on breezy summer night outs.

A couple of days before the big event the bride & groom had a more laidback yet lovely ceremony at the city hall. This time I opted for a rather simple outfit – the weather wasn’t very friendly that day – you can never go wrong with the dress + black blazer & pumps combo, don’t we all know that, ladies? ;-)

My man looked pretty damn fine in his Zara suit, didn’t he?!

Mentre aspetto impazientemente le foto ufficiali, eccovi un’anteprima degli outfit che ho indossato al matrimonio dei miei cari amici – il tema: circo vintage – al nord della Germania, lo scorso week-end. È stato il matrimonio più bello in assoluto e ci siamo divertiti un sacco! Dovrete attendere ancora qualche giorno per vedere tutte le foto dell’evento ma, credetemi, ne vale la pena…

Essendo stata una delle damigelle, il mio look non poteva che essere impeccabile – credo che il risultato non sia poi stato così male. La sposa è stata così easy da lasciarmi scegliere l’intero outfit (perfino i colori da combinare) con queste uniche regole: niente abito lungo da sera, tanto vintage e colore, colore, colore! Ho scelto il giallo – uno dei colori più cool della stagione – con accessori rossi. Il vestito è dannatamente comodo – ho potuto abbuffarmi al buffet con tutta nonchalance, senza paura di esplodere :-D

Le scarpe sono state un super investimento, grazie al plateau altino e tacco largo sono riuscita a correre qua e là (doveri di damigella!) tutto il giorno senza problemi – già non vedo l’ora di indossarle di nuovo nelle fresche notti d’estate.

Un paio di giorni prima del matrimonio, la sposa e lo sposo hanno organizzato una cerimonia – più tranquilla ma davvero carina – in comune. Per l’occasione ho optato per un outfit molto più semplice, dato che il meteo non è stato così gentile con noi: non ci si può mai sbagliare con la combinazione vestitino + giacca e tacchi neri, giusto ragazze? ;-)

There’s only one Queen…

…and that’s Madonna, beeeeeeeeeep!!

That was indeed the theme of Madonna’s MDNA gig in Milan last week. Love her or hate her, the lady still got it: at almost 54 (let me say this one more time: 54!!!!!!), she danced her sweet ass off and sang – nope, no lip-sync – for nearly two hours with hardly break. And let me just say, look at that body!

It’s not that hard to reckon I am a huge fan since well, very early days. I still remember my mum playing that Like a Virgin vinyl over and over again while doing the chores. Or going to see her live at the Drowned World tour by myself at 16 years old as my mates back then thought she was old and uncool – boy, did I have a blast that night! 11 years later I decided to express my love and devotion to her again, and she did not disappoint me.

Besides the overall awesomeness of the concert, what struck me the most were her outfits – obviously. Just like all of her previous tours, Madonna knows her stuff and pays attention to every single detail together with her good friend and long-time stylist Arianne Phillips. For the MDNA tour they picked 8 outfits and collaborated with top high-end designers, including Jeremy Scott, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Miu Miu and Agent Provocateur – together with a few pieces of her lingerie line Truth or Dare, due to launch very soon.

C’è solo una regina, ed è Madonna.

Questo è stato di fatto l’argomento principale della tappa Milanese del MDNA tour di Madonna settimana scorsa. Amatela o odiatela, tanto di cappello alla signora: a quasi 54 anni (fatemelo ribadire un’altra volta: 54!!!!!), ha ballato e cantato – senza playback, ah! – per circa due ore senza sosta. E lasciatemelo dire: ma che fisico!

Non ci vuole molto a capire che io sia una grande fan sin dall’infanzia. Ricordo ancora il vinile di Like a Virgin girare ininterrottamente mentre mia mamma faceva le pulizie. O andarla a vedere dal vivo al Drowned World tour da sola a 16 anni perchè le mie amiche la credevano vecchia e out – come mi sono divertita quella sera! 11 anni dopo ho deciso di esprimere ancora una volta il mio amore per lei, e non mi ha delusa neanche per un istante.

Tralasciando la figaggine generale del concerto, ciò che mi ha più colpita sono gli outfits – ovviamente. Come tutti i suoi tour precedenti, Madonna sa ciò che vuole e ci mette l’anima nel singolo dettaglio insieme alla sua cara amica e stilista di fiducia, Arianne Phillips. Per il MDNA tour hanno creato 8 outfits e collaborato con top designers, tra cui Jeremy Scott, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Miu Miu e Agent Provocateur – insieme ad alcuni capi della sua nuova linea di lingerie, Truth or Dare, a breve disponibile.

Outfit total black: jeggings e maglia super stretti con inserti in pelle, guanti in pelle Chanel e stivaletti con tacco a spillo per Girl Gone Wild/ Revolver/ Gang Bang/ Papa Don’t Preach/ Hung up/I Don’t Give A.

Happy Feet on Instagram

For those who wondered – no worries, I’m still alive! Between bachelorette parties (not mine!), friends getting married and lots of work my beloved MacBook crashed which meant that my blog went to freeze-mode but here I am, ready to hit the reboot button again :)

I believe we’ll all established by now that I am uber-obsessed with Instagram (see here & here), so how could I not show you my latest pics?! And for the record: I am not a foot-fetish, I just happen to love showing you my happy feet. Oh and I went to see Death Cab for Cutie live last Monday, they are simply awesome, such an amazing gig!

Per chi se lo fosse chiesto – non preoccupatevi, sono ancora viva! Tra addii al nubilato (non il mio!), matrimoni di amici e un sacco di lavoro, il mio amato MacBook mi ha abbandonata per un po’ – il che mi ha costretta a mettere il mio blog in stand-by ma rieccomi qui, pronta al restart :)

This just in: vintage jewelry

Ever since attending my very first fair here I’ve started getting puppy eyes by all things vintage – let’s face it, who wouldn’t? No wonder I almost fainted when a few days ago I received some of my great grandma’s jewelry. I adore this gold bracelet. Rumor has it it belongs to the late ’40s – vintage nerds help me out! I first thought it might be a bit too much “bling” for me, but on a second thought it turned out to be rather versatile – whether I keep it minimalistic with a not-so-mellow-yellow tee, or mix it up with my favorite watch of the day, the Casio Mini Digital Watch. I can already see rocking this baby on almost every outfit this summer.

The second gift is a gold four-leaf clover collier. While I love the intricate yet perfect details, this seems a tad to much for me. Although I am über thrilled about my vintage jewelry collection growing rather fast, I am afraid I’d look too much like a…well…grandma.

What do you think, would I manage to pull it off? Outfit tips are more than welcome! :-D

Da quando andai alla mia prima fiera qui, le pupille dei miei occhi si ingrandiscono a vista d’occhio in stile Gatto con gli Stivali di Shrek per tutte le cose vintage – diciamocela, chi non reagirebbe così? Non mi sorprende che io sia quasi svenuta qualche giorno fa quando mi sono stati regalati dei gioielli della mia bisnonna. Adoro questo bracciale d’oro. Gira voce che arrivi dagli anni ’40 – intenditori vintage aiutatemi! All’inizio ero dell’idea che fosse un po’ troppo per me, ma a prova contraria si è rivelato molto versatile – mantenendo un look minimal con una maglia gialla, o mischiandolo con il mio orologio preferito del momento, il Casio Mini Digital Watch. Già lo vedo con un sacco di outfit questa estate.

Il secondo regalo si tratta di un collier d’oro a tema quadrifoglio. Nonostante amo i suoi dettagli intricati ma comunque perfetti, questo gioiello sembra davvero troppo per me. Anche se sono super estasiata nel vedere la mia collezione di gioielli vintage crescere a vista d’occhio, temo che con questo sembrerei una..nonna.

So I bought an iPhone last week. Am I the only one who believes it actually changed my life? Literally.  The best and very first app I downloaded had to be Instagram – amazing how addictive a couple of old school looking frames and filters got me. It’s a very simple, yet adorable way to snap-shot whatever catches my eye and inspires me – fashion bloggers and photo lovers, you know what I am talking about ;-)

Alla fine ho acquistato un iPhone settimana scorsa. Non sono l’unica a pensare che mi ha cambiato la vita, vero? Giuro. La prima e migliore app che ho scaricato non poteva non essere Instagram – incredibile quanto un paio di cornici e filtri old-school e mi diano dipendenza. È un modo molto semplice e adorabile di catturare tutto ciò che coglie la mia attenzione e che mi ispira – fashion blogger e amanti di fotografia, capitemi ;-)
